Natural Ways To Remove Nail Fungus

Nail fungus, medically known as onychomycosis, can be stubborn to treat, but several natural remedies may help manage or even eliminate it over time. Here are some effective, nature-based methods to help treat nail fungus:

Nail Fungus

1. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is widely recognized for its antifungal properties. Apply a few drops of tea tree oil directly to the affected nail twice daily, allowing it to soak in completely. Dilute with a carrier oil like coconut oil if you have sensitive skin.

2. Apple Cider Vinegar Soaks

Apple cider vinegar creates an acidic environment that fungi don’t thrive in. Mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water and soak the affected nail in this solution for 15–20 minutes daily. Be sure to dry your nails thoroughly afterward.

3. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil contains caprylic acid, a compound that can penetrate the cell wall of fungi, making it a powerful natural remedy. Apply a thin layer of coconut oil to the affected area two to three times daily, allowing it to absorb into the nail and skin.

4. Baking Soda Paste

Baking soda can help absorb moisture around the nail bed, which may discourage fungus growth. Create a paste using water and baking soda and apply it to the affected area, leaving it on for about 10 minutes before rinsing.

5. Garlic Application

Garlic has natural antifungal and antimicrobial properties. Crush fresh garlic, apply it to the affected nail, and leave it on for 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can mix garlic oil with white vinegar and apply it directly to the nail.

6. Oregano Oil

Oregano oil contains thymol, known for its antifungal effects. Dilute it with a carrier oil and apply it to the infected nail once or twice daily for best results.

These natural treatments may take several weeks to show results. Consistency is key, so keep up with the routine daily. For severe or persistent cases, consult a healthcare provider to explore other treatment options.
